Has anyone read The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck? I first read it when I was ten or so. I was looking through my Granny's warmhouse, which is an old timey wooden storage building for dry foodstuffs. She no longer used it for that purpose. Instead she used it to store old clothes, papers, books, etc.

While digging through a box, I came across the book. I've always been a bookworm from the time I learned to read. I sat down right there and started reading. I was hooked from the first page. About three hours later my Granny came looking for me. I'd completely lost track of the time.

I kept that book for about twenty years, I guess, and lost it during some move or other. I still miss it. The scent of the old paper, the feel of it. But a few days ago my boyfriend found an old paperback version online and got it for me. It's not the same as the one I had, but it has that old book smell, at least, and the entire story is there.
